Learning about my family's history through small stories and notes from my grandparents is something that I have learnt a lot about. I don't have many stories relating to it but it is more just the general experience of being with my family and learning about family members or just broadly my family being very interesting  and something that makes me connect with my family more Summary: We did vocabulary today, Reflection:  The vocab was as always very informative and interesting.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response:  I think the antithesis tool is an incredibly compelling device to be used in diction. It is a great way to have a statement stick in someones mind but also show their point excellently. Some of the most famous lines in histories are based off antithesis and you can see how the contrast used in the technique has the ability to stick out to you. Summary: We took our rhetoric quiz in class today Reflection: The quiz was pretty difficult but I did alright, I also thought the clip of whiplash was very intense.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response:  Sometime this year I was so out of it and unmotivated and unwilling to do work. It was really frustrating cause there was certainly things I needed to do. I think I was just severely burnt out at this time and lost most my motivating to do work and do anything at all. To get back into the motion of things, I just did some activities that I like to bring me back to normalcy.  Summary: I wasn't here today  Reflection:

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response: There is not a lot of places in the world where I feel super at peace but if I have to I go to my room ideally. Being in my house in my space with my things is ideal for me to achieve inner peace for a moment and get away from the things that bug me in the day. It is where I go if I need to get things done whether it be homework or something else. Summary: We did more rhetoric work Reflection:  Today was more things I had a base familiarity with but didn't grasp everything about.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Eventually I realized that it just wasn't my day and for my team to be more effective I needed to change it up and pass more to my teammate. By doing this we were generally more successful and It was an overall positive that I did it. Summary: We did more work over rhetoric Reflection: The stuff we went over was stuff I was already familiar with to a degree but was able to now better understand the use of.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response:  High school teaches you a lot of life skills that I think people miss. Beyond the knowledge you gain, it teaches you discipline, making good use of time, and quality listening skills. I think due to the schedule and need of waking up early for school helps you learn how to plan your day effectively and to be ready for things. I think perseverance, not procrastinating, and discipline are necessary. Summary: We did rhetoric work Reflection:  I learnt more forms of identifying types of rhetoric in class and how to use them.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response:  Back when I played soccer I was basically forced to take a hiatus due to covid messing things up. Since then I have not played one game of soccer in a league so it certainly had a impact on me. I was never forced to play soccer but I do think my parents wanted me on a sport and my dad had played so I did. I think that having that time off kinda helped me realize that I was not generally interested in soccer too much. Summary: We did more rhetoric work  Reflection:  The stuff we learnt today was more stuff I wasn't familiar with and needed a name to assign to.

Summary: We did a lesson through a textbook regarding forms of rhetoric. Reflection:  Learning about what certain things were that I had recognized but didn't have a name to assign to was interesting.

Prompt Response:  Over winter break I did two things, hang out with family and do things with friends. For Christmas I was with my dad's parents in north Georgia and for New Years I was with my uncle's family in Mississippi. The first goal I am striving to achieve is getting my driver's license.  This goal is important to me as getting it will give me much more freedom and ability to more easily do things like get a job and get to places. To achieve it, I will need to meet certain parameters. Thankfully, I have already finished the sitting-down Driver's Ed portion, which makes it easier. I need to get more practice in though as a whole, which I will achieve by doing driving with my parents on the weekends. Ideally by October or November 2026, I will take the road test and get my license. I would also like to get a job within the year.  This goal is very important to me as a lack of financial freedom is oftentimes very frustrating, and I also believe that getting a job i...
