How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book?  Prompt Response: In the movie, Chris McCandless is presented in a very different way than the book. In the movie, he is more outgoing, reckless, and acts like a bit of a dope. This compares to the book where he is described as more reserved, charismatic, and thoughtful. Seeing the movie and connecting it the book reminded me of when I read some of Dune and saw the movies portrayal of it and how it in many ways clarified someone the world building.

Summary: We watched the movie in class and answered questions off it.

Reflection: The questions we answered made me think more deeply about the movie in contrast to the book.

  Prompt Response:  In the past, working on projects independently can lead to lack of motivation for me and make it harder to work on. But at the same time working on a project as a group can be problematic as not everyone is on the same track and may not be as willing to work together. I hope that during this project we will all be able to work on it on the same track and be efficient about it. Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt Response:  Very recently I had an encounter with this homeless guy at goodwill and I bought him some clothes. Seeing homeless people is something that is greatly upsetting to me because it makes me so upset seeing people in that condition and situation and I just hope for them to end up doing better at some point.
