Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response:  I used to go out to my front yard when I was bothered by something as the quietness and just inherent feel of nature was very soothing and good for me to get away from things. Those moments of stillness were very calming for me and helped me get away from the business and hustle of life. Summary: We worked on the one pager on our poem Reflection:  The poem I had assigned was really interesting

Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt Response:  I used to have a friend that would constantly bug me about wanting to hang out and it would really get on my nerves. He was not someone that would get the hint most the time that I didn't want to do something. It got to a point when he was, at least to me, trying to force himself to come over to my house. That really bugged me and I had to take a genuine and clear stand. It didn't make too much of an effect on our relationship but it caused that behavior to stop Summary: We worked on a commonlit Reflection:  The commonlit's poem was very interesting

Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response:  A time where things changed quicker than I anticipated was the rush into having to worry about my future. For a while I was pretty oblivious on things regarding my life and future but when it all came and fell on me it was quite a shock and hard to realize. It was the removal of much of my lack of responsibility and obliviousness to my future and what I need to do for it. It reflects to the idea within the poem that things are always changing and can change at a moments notice. Summary: We worked on our own poetry analysis     Reflection:  Analyzing my own poem was helpful in making my critical thinking better.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response:  I really like the word bombast, I think it is a very applicable word in many situations of people being ridiculous. I don't use it extremely often but it fills a certain niche that I really appreciate. I also just like the word and it's pronunciation, it has a very poignant effect to it for me. Summary: We finished our powerpoint Reflection:  The project was a good reflection on imagination and childhood.

How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt Response:  At times when there is a lot on my mind and it is hard to focus in of being overwhelmed with things, it is useful to have an escape from that. The use of imagination to sort of get away from things is very helpful to get a break from the hustle and stress of life. It helps me not get completely torn apart by things going on and to get some time to think things over. Summary: We worked on our presentations and analyzed the poem Reflection:  The poem was quite interesting and an effective look at nostalgia and the desire to get away.

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt Response:  One time when I was going climbing with my buddy Judah I was doing this fairly complicated climb and I kept getting stuck at this one part. It is hard to explain the exact dimensions but it required exact focus on each movement of my body while also having complete focus. It was incredibly difficult and it required me to be completely isolated from everything else but myself and the climb to overcome it. Summary: We read a poem and analyzed it/answered questions over it. Reflection:  The poem was pretty shocking and thought provoking.

Write about what you did over the Fall Break.

Prompt Response:  Over fall break I did a lot, I went to a mountain house with some of my friends, my birthday happened, and I generally spent a lot of time out the house. The mountain house was probably my favorite thing that I did, being able to have so much time with my buds and the ability to do so much was a lot of fun. My birthday was also enjoyable, I had a simple hangout with friends and got some presents and what not. Summary: We worked on a comic based off the vocab words Reflection:  Working on the comic helped me understand the words better.

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response:  Even in a busy day I still try to find time and ways to enjoy myself. One of the easiest is just talking to my friends. I have many classes with friends that can make a day that I dread pretty easy to get through. Beyond school though when I get home I have many things I can do to relax. Going to the gym is a good recreation for me and so is playing guitar.  Summary: We worked on our paragraph Reflection:  Getting a little extra time on my paragraph allowed me to refine it.

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response:  When my friend J took me climbing I had to overcome some of my fears of heights. The large walls and going up them made me.  I did pretty good for my first time trying it and I was able to get to the top and while it was frightening at first I was able to overcome it and surpass my fears Summary: We read ambush and started a paragraph based off it Reflection: I really liked the short story and thought it was very impactful

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response:  When my friend J said something really mean to me it made me realize his true character and how he truly is on the inside. The words struck so deep into my feelings it made me realize how cruel of a person he could be. It was after an altercation where I took his Chromebook and he took mine in response. Tensions were high and he said something truly despicable to me which made me rethink how things were. Summary: Worked on the paragraph and the bad evidence assignment Reflection:  The evidence assignment helped me further understand good evidence.

Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt Response:  One time I had a dream where I was in World War I with my friend Terrance. We were doing okay and then we got into a safe place but something happened and then we started arguing. I utterly shut him down in the argument and felt truly triumphant. Then I woke up and felt incredibly discombobulated. Summary: We went over new vocab and cancel culture Reflection: The new vocab put me onto a lot of new words to use in my writing.
